SPECIAL NEEDS PATIENTS
When the Patient Needs a Little More
Most children need a little extra comfort during their first few pediatric dental visits to familiarize themselves to this new experience. Special care dentistry provides customized health care to children affected by physical, psychological or mental disabilities. Usually, these individuals need added assistance while undergoing and learning about their dental treatment. Children with special needs may have a higher incidence for various oral issues, such as gum disease, cavities or other problems, so it is important to find a qualified pediatric dentist for your child.
Dental Training
Our doctors have undergone highly specialized pediatric dental training which allows us to provide dental care for children of all ages, including those with special needs. Our doctors have gone to school for 2 years longer than dental school to obtain a specialty license in pediatric dentistry. Together, with our highly trained, compassionate dental team, we care for:
-
Infants
-
Toddlers
-
Children
-
Adolescents/Teenagers
-
Children with Special Healthcare Needs
-
Children with Behavioral Disorders
-
Children with Mental Disabilities
-
Children with Physical Disabilities
Caring for a special needs patient takes compassion and understanding. While most dentists can accommodate for special needs patients, some dentists focus on meeting the needs and working with the limitations of these patients.
Social Visits
Instead of a visit every 6 months we offer our special needs patients an option to visit every 3 months in order to familiarize themselves with our staff and office. One appointment is for an actual cleaning and 3 months later, we "just brush and count" teeth. We will offer this schedule as long as the parent and patient need it. Schedule a visit today!
